Addiction to Marijuana - Treating an Addiction to Marijuana

negative consequences

A marijuana addiction is no different than many other addictions that plague people nowadays. Marijuana can be deceptive, as it appears the most benign on the pecking order of illegal drugs. Unfortunately, marijuana can produce some negative consequences and some dangerous side-effects that can wreak havoc in the users life.

Addictions are usually defined as a pattern of use over time with a substance and or behavior that is usually associated with increased usage, and negative consequences. If I can't go a day without a particular substance and or behavior, that usually indicates a problem, indicative of an addiction. I know what you might be saying, "but I only use on weekends." Well unfortunately, "binging" so to speak, like using cannabis on Friday and Saturday only, does not remove the "addictive" label.

Addiction Recovery - What Cures Addiction?

If your life is being adversely affected by someone's drug or alcohol addiction, you need to know what cures addiction. Returning health to a person abusing drugs requires we as family help them resolve what caused their addiction. Trying to solve addiction by investing time or money into wrong factors is wasteful.

Addiction and Recovery are inseparable once drug abuse has taken a toll on a person's life. But what causes alcohol or drug addiction? What sort of investment should we make into curing addiction?

In Vancouver, BC future site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, addiction and recovery don't seem to go together. Addicted for life would be the motto of Vancouver 'Harm Reduction' policies in the Downtown East Side (DTES).

In Addicted to Incarceration: Corrections Policy and the Politics of Misinformation in the United States, Travis C. Pratt, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Criminal Justice at Washington State University, takes an evidence-based approach to explore the consequences of what he terms America's "addiction to incarceration," which has led to more than a 600% increase in imprisonment with America becoming in recent years the nation that imprisons more of its population than any other nation. In his words,

Addicted to Your Pleasure and Pain, Are You? Come On, Break Free!

have been

I remember when I was in eighth grade in school years ago and listening to Pink Floyd. I heard a song way back then that became a favourite of mine at the time and still is today. It was called Comfortably numb. At the time of listening to it back then, I thought it was all about heroin abuse.

A year or so later I heard another song by an Australian band called the Choirboys that had lyrics that said: "You don't need anyone, no you don't need anyone; when you run the paradise." Once again I saw this as the paradise that is found by the injection of heroin.

In the movie Pulp Fiction, just a few years ago, I saw the absolutely mind blowing rush one can get from the injection of a needle, and how heroin really is like the big daddy of them all. For even the name itself boasts of its awesome ability and power and how it should be worshipped. We all know about branding and the power of a brand name, if it's used properly. Just think of Coke, Mc Donald's, and Disney and suddenly you have an emotion and hopefully a positive emotion come to mind. The word heroin is no mistake. It's available when you need the ultimate peace and numbness, and you put the father of all drugs into your arm like a doctor gives medicine, you go and put the Hero in.

Addicted to Hydrocodone? Ready to Be Clean? Natural Treatments Can Help

your brain

Supporting the Addicted Brain from Hydrocodone Abuse

Knowledge is power. If you know what can and will happen, then you can know how you want to proceed on your road to recovery. You can even make it easier on yourself. But before figuring out where you are going. How about looking at where you've been? How about recognizing where you are now?

When you repeatedly use a substance such as hydrocodone, you get addicted to it. Really, it's not you. It's your brain. Your brain actually gets addicted to the drug. Hydrocodone abuse takes your brain out of its natural state of balance. The more you use, the worse it gets. The more addiction asks you for hydrocodone, the more you give it, right?

Addiction Treatment Is Not a Cure for Addiction: Why Relapse Is So Common

more than

Every time I hear that another celebrity has died from addiction to drugs or alcohol, my first thought is -- why didn't anybody care enough to help? It's instinctual and I am often humbled later when I discover that people did actually try to help...sometimes more than once. Yet, the next time somebody dies I find myself asking the same question again and, inevitably, run into the same troubling answer. The fact is, many people who die from substance abuse, whether from an overdose or long-term systemic toxic damage, usually have entered rehab (sometimes more than once) and gotten clean for at least some period of time. Yet, they still end up dying from their disease.

A Good Natural Remedy For Diarrhea is Fast and Gentle in Its Action

food poisoning

A natural remedy for diarrhea will never suppress your symptoms or cause side effects. Natural remedies work by supporting the action your body is already trying to take.

There are many reasons for diarrhea, but one of the most common is food poisoning. Diarrhea often accompanies vomiting when you are suffering with food poisoning. It's your body's way of quickly eliminating a problem food. Unpleasant though this may be, it is a healthy action and should not be suppressed.

However, few people enjoy the effects of this purging, healthy though it may be. And if you are already in poor health or are frail, this may be a prolonged incident. This brings up an additional problem of the very real possibility of dehydration.

Addiction Retreats

addiction retreats

Addiction is a brutal development regardless of the vice. Addiction retreats offer unique treatment programs that are helping addicts recover.

Addiction Retreats

A new weapon in the battle against addiction has emerged recently. Instead of just working through a 12-step program, or being helped medically, a number of people who are having problems with addiction have chosen a different route. Addiction retreats have popped up in several areas of the United States, taking a new approach to helping those who have addictions to substances and other addictive behaviors.

One of the new addiction retreats that has started recently is the Essence Recovery Center, located in Asheville, North Carolina. This retreat offers an all-inclusive vacation-like feel, all while helping you to work through your problems with addiction. There are therapy sessions, which include individual "talk" therapy, as well as music and art therapy. They also offer massage therapy and acupuncture, which help to detoxify your body. Meditation, 12-step group programs, sauna and whirlpools, and even spa cuisine help to round out this holistic spa retreat. Week long programs and 28 day programs are available, and the spa is careful to point out that you should get your doctor's approval before starting this program, as it is not a medical program.
